Definitely my favourite and most special invitations, designed for my brother and sister-in-law. Neither of them had an idea what they were looking for. They just knew they wanted something personal and traditionally Indian-looking, but with a modern twist, please – and of course full of bright colours. Challenge accepted! I bring you: the fusion invite.

We discussed a variety of designs and ideas and in the end decided to go with traditional Indian elephants. My brother and now sister-in-law then told me their desired colour scheme – pink, orange, gold and electric blue – and the rest is history.

Every page was custom-designed. The front of the invitation symbolises Vishal & Rakhi coming together. The wedding card displays two elephant trunks interlinked, while the reception card shows an elephant trunk celebrating, ready to party. The Mehndi card depicts elephant paws decorated with Mehndi patterns, while the mala-wearing elephants on the back of the invitation represent Vishal taking Rakhi by the hand, walking into their future together.

It was my intention to make the invite look like a picture book where every page had a symbolic meaning. During the design process, a lot of thought went into every little detail to ensure Vishal and Rakhi would get their dream wedding card. Have a look at the final invitation, matching envelopes and stickers to seal them. Shown separately in the gallery you will also find matching menu cards, table names and favour boxes.
